A Surreal Walk Through Walt Disney’s Office And Peter Pan Scavenger Hunt On The Disney Lot

During my visit to Los Angeles for the #HanSoloEvent, we (Disney Bloggers) also visited Walt Disney’s office on the Disney Studios lot.  I have toured the Disney Studios lot before but it was my first time touring Walt’s actual office.  AHHHHMAZING!

I could hardly believe the level of detail that was put in recreating his office to make it look exactly the way it was when he occupied it.  As I walked through the space, I felt a very powerful sense of creativity and inspiration.  Some say it’s Walt’s spirit and other’s think it is the small details in the room that draw you to the very essence of his spirit.  Either way, I felt it and I left feeling very inspired.

After walking through his assistant’s office and the formal office, we walked into his “Working Office.” The office was exactly the same down to the number of paperclips.  The level of detail was astonishing.  His desk, the files, his phone, furniture and his leather work bag sitting next to his desk.  It was the bag that he carried his work in to and from home daily.

I was so impressed that they were able to keep the kitchen the same, with the original cabinets and counter tops.  Even the monogram glasses were actually used by Walt.

My second favorite room in Walt’s massive office suite was the “Walt Disney: A Life in Caricature” room.  It was full of caricatures of Walt.  They were all spectacular, showing different emotions and looks of the infamous Walt Disney.  It reminded me of the Walt Disney Family Museum.

What made the tour of the Disney lot especially fun this time was the PETER PAN Scavenger Hunt in celebration of the 65th anniversary of PETER PAN (available on Digital 5/29 and Blu-ray 6/5) and the in-home release of the Walt Disney Signature Collection Edition of the film.

We ran through the lot finding treasures, stomping on shadows, and finding fairies stuck on the Disney buildings.   We participated in a ring toss…well we cheered Andrew on as he successfully landed two rings.  After more than 10 different activities we finished the scavenger hunt and won!  Yes, the Captain Hook Team took first place…oh by the way, I was on the winning team!

I was so impressed! It was the perfect way to celebrate PETER PAN – on the very lot where the magic happened 65 years ago.   In PETER PAN, the Disney animated film, Wendy and her two brothers are amazed when a magical boy named Peter Pan flies into their bedroom, supposedly in pursuit of his rebellious shadow. He and his fairy friend, Tinkerbell, come from a far-off place called Neverland, where children stay perpetually young. Enchanted, the kids follow him back. But when Pan’s nemesis, the pirate Captain Hook, causes trouble, the kids begin to miss their old life.

Peter Pan Anniversary Edition | On Digital 5/29 & Blu-ray 6/5

In just a few days you will be able to snag your copy PETER PAN the Walt Disney Signature Collection Edition on digital 5/29 and Blu-ray 6/5.  I am planning to host a “Welcome to Summer” Captain Hook themed party for Chance and a few friends since Team Captain Hook won the scavenger hunt, and my prize was an Apple TV.  I KNOW…bananas!!

Are you a Walt Disney fan?  What do you admire most? Share your thoughts and ideas about in-home PETER PAN parties, I would love to hear about them.
