You’ve probably seen a few references on my social channels but I am delighted to say I’M GOING to Los Angeles with 24 top bloggers! PHOTO OF IM GOING POSTER Just five short days into the new year and I get an email from Disney, Marvel Studios & Disney/Pixar to join them in Los Angeles from 1/28 – 1/31 for the #BlackPantherEvent! This invite is such a huge deal, I could not confirm my acceptance fast enough. So, I will have the opportunity to walk the red carpet for the premiere of BLACK PANTHER (opening in theatres 2/16) interviewing the casts and directors?!?! PINCH ME! SHAKE ME! INSERT BLACK PANTHER POSTER For months, I’ve had conversations about BLACK PANTHER with my son Chance or my good friend Choya. We’ve talked about everything from T’Challa (BLACK PANTHER) being Marvel’s the first black superhero to The Dora Milaje, the all-female bodyguards of the BLACK PANTHER. Marvel Studios’ BLACK PANTHER follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life. As the mom of an African American boy, this is a really big deal and I am honored to be part of this epic event. It’s so powerful for Chance to see a superhero that looks like him, just as it was to see a President of the United States. T’Challa has to decide what kind of King he is going to be and my son will decide what kind of man he is going to be. INSERT TRAILER Good stuff right? I agree, BLACK PANTHER is going to captivating! But… there’s more. I will also celebrate the Walt Disney Signature Collection release of LADY AND THE TRAMP on Digital 2/20 and Blu-Ray 2/27 by attending a paint and sip. Yes, we will enjoy Italian food and learn to paint a LADY AND THE TRAMP themed painting. Insert Photo The 1955 original Disney animated classic follows a pampered cocker spaniel named Lady whose comfortable life slips away once her owners have a baby. When, after some tense circumstances, Lady finds herself on the loose and out on the street, she is befriended and protected by the tough stray mutt Tramp. A romance begins to blossom between the two dogs, but their many differences, along with more drama at Lady's household, threaten to keep them apart. I will be sharing a review of the bonus features, and the top life lessons that we can teach our children. Insert trailer Hold on, the fun continues. I must admit, I am really excited to celebrate the in-home release of Disney/Pixar’s COCO. Despite his family's generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history. Insert Photo My family and I watched COCO together and we all cried….well my husband didn’t but my mom, Chance and I certainly did. It was such an inspiring story about cultural traditions and the importance of family. If you have not seen it, then you definitely want to snag your copy on Blu-Ray 2/27. I am looking forward to releasing my movie review to include the bonus features. Photo of MIGUEL I’m also excited to have an opportunity to interview Anthony Gonzales (voice of “Miguel”). This is a real treat. If you have questions for him, post them in the comments section below. As a room parent, I am positive that my sons class will have lots of questions for me. PHOTO OF THE BACHELOR Lastly, we will swing by ABC for a sneak peek of The Bachelor Winter Games and participate in a Q&A with host Chris Harrison. Fun stuff right...I know!!! Moms, I am honored to attend this media trip with Disney for BLACK PANTHER. It gives me an opportunity to share the excitement of meeting celebs or strolling the red carpet but more importantly I can share valuable lessons that we can share with our children. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing movie reviews, interviews and lessons learned from BLACK PANTHER in theatres on February 16th, LADY AND THE TRAMP and COCO on Digital February 20th and Blu-Ray on February 27th.
