It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through the year, but here we are. How are your goals going? July is the perfect time to take a look at your goals and make some adjustments if you need to. The important thing to note is the year is only half over, there is still plenty of time left to achieve your goals. But, you should still do a mid-year review to see how you’re doing. It might just give you the kick you need to see through the goals you’ve given up on.

A mid-year review will help you better achieve your goals as you reflect on everything that has gone on this year. It doesn’t matter what your goal is, even if it’s one that you expect to take a few years to achieve. They will help you stay on track and stay motivated to see your goal through. I’ve broken it down into three stages of goals that you might find yourself in.

The Goal You’re Still Working On

If you’ve got a goal you’re still working on now is a great time to look back at how it has been going for you. Have you been progressing on it like you hoped you would? If not, then figure out why not. What has stopped you from achieving the goal as quickly as you would have liked? What, if anything, can you change right now to help you reach your goal? If it’s something that is beyond your control, like a worldwide pandemic, be ok with that. There are some things that are just out of our hands. This is a great time to make a list of things you can be doing to work on your goal and make sure that you continue going strong.

The Goal You Gave Up On

Do you have a goal you gave up on this year? Chances are the answer is yes, it happens to us all. This is a great time to reflect on what went wrong. Maybe you had a change of heart and that goal just isn’t what you want anymore. Or maybe life just got in the way. Now is a great time to reflect on where things went wrong so that when you have other goals you know what to look out for. You can also decide if this goal is still something you want to achieve. If you do, then why not get started on it now? Or, if you don’t think you can do it right now then put it on your to-do list and come back to it again some other time. Most importantly during this time, you need to forgive yourself for giving up on your goal. No matter what the reason is. Beating yourself up over it doesn’t help anyone.

The Goal You Finished

Have you finished a goal already this year!?! Congratulations! But, your work isn’t done yet. Your mid-year review needs to include the goals you’ve finished. Ask yourself, what went right? What went wrong? Is there anything you did to achieve this goal that will help you with other goals? Maybe a time management plan that worked well for you or just having a very simple goal. Whatever it was that contributed to your success, write it down. Once you’ve got a list go back to your goals in progress and see if those things can help you now.

Have you started a mid-year review? If not, I hope this is fueling your fire to get it done ans assess your goals.
