The Important Lessons I Learned Through Partnership With Prudential #Prupárate!

Growing up I did not learn much about money management, saving, or retirement.  The little I learned came from my grandfather whom was only in my life a few good years before he passed.  When I began working with Prudential a few years ago, I had no idea how impactful the brand and its representatives would come to mean to me.

I’ve learned some very valuable lessons around budgeting and sticking to it, saving for Chance’s college tuition, and the importance of retirement.  During the first year of my Motivated Mom I took a huge loss, a $40,000 one.  It was TOUGH.  I had a very hard conversation with myself, my hubby and Shirley Ann Robertson from Prudential.  If you know Shirley Ann, then you know that I was almost in tears talking through my lessons….yeah, yeah I know you’re thinking “don’t you mean mistakes?” Yes, they were mistakes but I am calling them lessons. LOL!

Last year I focused on spreading the word about the importance of retirement during Hispanicize with Elayna Fernandez, The Positive Mom during a fireside chat and carried the message through the Motivated Mom Tour. As a mompreneur initially, I felt that I could not afford to have a retirement account but quickly realized that I can’t afford not to.

Prudential shared a toolkit with me and my favorite question was “What Does Your Future Retirement Selfie Look Like?”  When you retire, or start your “second chapter,” where do you see yourself? Living in your own beach house? Taking care of grandchildren? Volunteering at a local animal shelter? There’s no one-size-fits-all secret to retirement. The first step to understanding how much you need to save is visualizing what location and lifestyle you want.

Not only am I a brand partner of Prudential, I am also brand ambassador and have attended several events on their behalf.  One of my absolute favorite events powered by Prudential (other than Motivated Mom) is Hispanicize. The 3-day event is less than a month away and Prudential is this year’s presenting sponsor! Hispanicize Media Group is honored to continue their partnership with Prudential Financial, kicking off Hispanicize on Tuesday, April 17. It’s going to be three full days of inspiring people sharing stories of entrepreneurship and goals to reach financial security. You can expect an amazing time of inspiration and networking!
